Prof Nqabomzi Gawe (Chairperson)

Prof Nqabomzi Gawe (chairperson) is the former Deputy Vice-Chancellor: Institutional Support Services at the Durban University of Technology (DUT).  She also previously served as Acting Vice-Chancellor of Durban University of Technology.

 

Ela Gandhi (Vice chairperson)

Ela Gandhi (Vice chairperson) was formerly Chancellor of the Durban University of Technology.  She is a renowned peace activist, is Honorary President of World Council on Religions for Peace and a Board member of the Legal Aid Board.

 

Bongani Cele                               

Bongani Cele is a former Bank Manager who was Treasurer of the Diakonia Council of Churches, President of Sibusisiwe Welfare Society, Chairman of Habit for Humanity South Africa, and is Afrisun Sibaya Director and Treasurer of Operation Jumpstart Association.

Paddy Kearney                  

Paddy Kearney represents the Gandhi Development Trust on the ICON Board. He is a consultant to the KwaZulu-Natal Christian Council and Coordinator of the Denis Hurley Centre at Emmanuel Cathedral, Durban. He was Director of Diakonia from 1976 to 2004.

 

Dr Albertina Luthuli

Albertina Luthuli is a Member of the South African Parliament, and daughter of Nobel Peace Prize Laureate Chief Albert Luthuli.

 

 

Paddy Meskin

Paddy Meskin is President of the World Conference on Religions for Peace, South Africa, and Honorary Life Vice-President of Temple David, Durban.

 

 

Ashish Ramgobin

Ashish Ramgobin is the Founder and Executive Director of Participative Development Initiative for the past twelve years, with a Masters Degree in Public Administration. She is an activist with a focus on environmental, societal and political interests.

Advocate Robin Sewlal is Associate Director: Journalism at the Durban University of Technology. He is a Commissioner at the Broadcasting Complaints Commission of South Africa (BCCSA), Chair of the King Dinizulu Hospital Board, and Vice-Chair of the KwaZulu-Natal Fashion Council
